Any deal that does not raise revenues will be touted by Republicans as a triumph for them. |
|
Their crowing and strutting about it will make the rest of us want to puke. :puke:
Any deal must, must, must raise revenues.

2. Only because it WILL be a victory for them. |
|
Balaance what, Mr Reid? You were all huffy about balance a couple of days ago. You actually fooled some of us into believing you thought there was something worth fighting over.

4. All these revenue increases raise LESS than the expiration of the Bush tax cuts. |
|
You guys are being duped into wanting less revenues now. Jeez Louise.

5. I am reminded of the government shutdown in MN where Dayton insisted there be new tax revenues |
|
and then gave in and signed a deal with no new tax revenues and took money from education.
Dayton ran and won, campaigning that he would raise taxes on the wealthy, but in the end gave in with no new tax revenues.
No new taxes is the gold standard and idol for the Republicans. Any deal with no new revenues will be touted and spun as a victory for the GOP and they will brag how they beat Obama and will raise lots of money and campaign on that.

7. At least Dayton never pretended there was some great victory in this |
|
(like I'm sure Obama, Pelosi & Reid will do when they sell out Social Security).
At least Mark managed to get the Republicans' social issues out of the budget and got a bonding bill passed. Dayton will still be in office when the next budget fight comes up and, hopefully, we will manage to get him a DFL controlled legislature to work with before then. For that reason, I plan to put my efforts into state races in 2012. Besides, I just can't see any reason to do much of anything for either Obama or Amy Klobuchar.

9. Any Republican triumph will not be a victory for the people, but for the rich & big business. |
|
It's just that simple to understand.

10. They want to campaign on no tax increases on the rich, ever? Great! |
|
To be honest, it would be very smart - politically, mind you - to give them exactly what they want right now.
