WH Reporter: "DC is a big bag of suck that couldn't solve a rubik's cube if it were all one color"
Today's intrepid White House pool reporter, The Hill's Sam Youngman, on the state of the negotiations: "DC is a big bag of suck that couldn't solve a rubik's cube if it were all one color."

2. Obama is a voice of reason in a city of insanity.
I don't know how he does it.

Cutting the best delivery system of health care we have and Social Security which has nothing to do with the deficit is not sanity.

24. But, his office was honest enough not to deny cuts
to discretionary spending (hello, Pell grants) that aren't itemized yet.

22. i have not seen a single report where Obama or the WH has stated that they would
reduce the BENEFITS of the programs, only thing i've read about the benefits is that they are to be safeguarded and strengthened.

I have heard him comment about needing to eliminate waste and reducing costs tho.

So tell me this, what is insane about wanting to maintain or strengthen the benefits of a program while reducing the waste and cost of it?

23. What waste and what cost of what program?
MediCare was the most efficient program that has been run in this nation.

It has been managed for many decades for less than a five percent management charge.

Yes, there are fraudsters and there are hucksters. As with all programs. (Funny how we start harping about MediCare fraud, but not about the Seventy Billion dollars unaccounted for over in our War on Afghanistan. And some people fear much of this money has ended up in the hands of those we are purportedly fighting there!)

Some people here on DU are applauding the fact that according to Obama, MediCare cuts will occur in terms of payments to doctors, and not price increases to seniors. But as someone who spent most o f the nineties out there helping seniors - doctors doing gerontology were already abandoning their practices back then, due to the fact that they were being under paid.

As for Social Security, it is its own Fund. It has nothing to do with the Federal budget. Although pundits like Bill Maher and Blue Dog Dems are so excited about their neat little pie chart analyses of how MediCare and Social Security are a
whopping one third of the budget. But that is hog wash. Social Security is its own fund, it has a two point something TRILLION dollar surplus and it is doing just fine.

Now we need to keep Washington DC Power Players for getting their cling-y hands all over it!

you know that chained CPi for SS and means testing Medicare have indeed been discussed. Yes, that is insane.

18. Surely you jest.
On critical issues he is on board with the Pukes who are totally demented on a good day.

His positions are well documented. Can't 'splain it away.

4. Making it about "DC" on general is the next GOP play
This is all about the GOP. It invented this stupid crisis, and now through its intransigence will push it toward fruition. In order to absolve itself of blame, it is spreading the tendrils out to make this all about the "dysfunction of government." It's not about the dysfunction of government in general. It is about GOP dysfunction.

I would hope that your usual and predictable attacks on the Administration don't blind you to that basic fact.

because instead of calling them out on their bullshit, the Democrats have proceeded as if it is real. At that point, they earn equity in the whole stupid mess.
