Asian Markets Are Almost All Down. It Begins....
The sad thing is we will all give Republicans a free pass on what amounted to an act of economic terrorism. We let Republicans win and control the House, then we get blame Democrats for the fact that the House is only approving the most dumb ass legislation on the table.

1. Less the 1% - Big Deal
Edited on Sun Jul-24-11 11:48 PM by FreakinDJ
can't wait to hear all the Breathless Hyperventilating FUX reporters

By comparison DJIA dropped 2% when Germany balked at bailing out Greece. So by that measure they are not too worried about the US defaulting

5. Exactly, The DJIA Dropped When Germany Balked At Bailout Out Greece...
...can you imagine if it becomes clear that we are beginning to default? Right now, you are hearing a lot of happy talk about how the debt limit will be raised, but what happens if it isn't? The markets go crazy about Greece, but can you imagine what happens if it looks like the U.S. is about to default.

The problem is once it sinks in, you can't stop it. Once people start selling Treasuries, they will try to beat each other out the door. Interest rates will shoot up. It is like the 2008 credit crunch on steroids.

3. Its all about the percentage and not the 'points'...
If something drops 176 points its not necessarily ZOMG OPEN THE WINDOW SO I CAN JUMP OUT!!!!!!...The important number is the percentage, this case being .79% of the Hang at 12:50est..

Just think of it like a a dollar <naive and childish i know...> 176 points might sound scary as crap, but it has not even lost a penny (.07 of a cent) out of that imagined dollar...

7. It is indeed an ignorant, knee-jerk assessment.
By the way, three minutes and twelve seconds into Un Chien Andalou you can see a brief segment featuring a llama walking on two legs.

If that's not educational, then I don't know what is.

16. For the record, I didn't call anyone's assessment 'stupid'
I called it "ignorant and knee-jerk," and I stand by my reply.

And since the OP likewise swept through with a hit-and-run (followed, admittedly, by a tepid reply #5), I don't feel the least bit bad about giving the thread about as much thought as he did.

I don't doubt that you feel as though you're "educating" people, and if it makes you feel better to think that way, then far be it from me to educate you.
