Republicans Are Engaging In The Worst Economic Terrorism In Our Nation's History - Free Pass! |
|
I see thread after thread kicked attacking Democrats! It is mind boggling!
A default will be bad. It would make the 2008 financial meltdown look like nothing. During the meltdown, people fled to U.S. Treasuries, but where will they flee now? Banks? Banks are only as safe so long as people believe that the FDIC is good for the money.
Democrats know this. President Obama knows this. This is why they are trying to avoid a default. Because while we can blow off steam by saying, "Go ahead, Default," the fact of the matter is that I doubt that any of us is ready for the consequences of such an action.
Are Republicans brave for signing their pledges and abdicating their responsibilities? Know, they are the most craven cowards that have walked the halls of Congress.
The polls say that more people would blame Republicans for a default, then the Democrats. So, does this mean that President Obama should capitalize and allow a default?
I guess I'm done. The corporate media has won. Republicans are about holding our Nation hostage, and we end up blamimg Democrats who are trying to prevent the potential economic meltdown. We should be angry at those who deliberately put us in harms way by threatening a default. Instead, we blame those who are trying to avert it, who are going to take a serious political hit for "caving."
Liberals are disgusted with the fact that Democrats will have to cave to raise the debt limit, because Republicans have proven willing to destroy our Nation's economy. I think the Democrats know this, yet they are going to take the hit. They will lose in 2012 because they tried to avert an economic disaster while Republicans who shamelessly put our Nation in economic peril will have control of all three branches of Government in 2012.
That's the way it works. The bad guys win. The good guys lose because they felt they needed to stop the Nation from defaulting for the first time in our Nation's history. That is the way it works.

3. I don't get why Boehner is holding out? Why are the Repubs refusing to budge on Revenue increases? |
|

As you say majority are in favor of Revenue increases. Boehner reads the same polls we do.
Yet the Teabag House will apparently Never pass a bill that includes them.

4. That is why they need a "Short Term Solution" |
|
they need to repeatedly fill the news cycle to brainwash the majority

6. No, Obama should exercise the 14th ammendment, let the bush tax cuts expire, and face the reality |
|
that because of the House republicans, nothing will get done, so he should take the case to the public, and explain how most of the economic mess we are in today is because of the republican policy of trickle down economics, and lack reversing the regulation that had been in place since the great depression

the Supremes would back the Republicans, as usual. Our Government is in a mess from top to bottom.

17. Like they did in 2000? |

How does 2012 really look if both previous Democratic presidents were impeached- even under dubious circumstances? For the masses that are just aware of surface details an argument that goes "people are only treated like criminals if they are criminals" THUS "all Democrats are corrupt because they are treated like criminals." Throw in some numbers on the ridiculously biased prison populations.
A highly public impeachment\prosecution may have just enough "truth" to damage our party pretty significantly.
I don't think counting on people to see through what they would do with information that includes impeachment proceedings would be very wise.

18. Clinton served 2terms and it was prior to his second term which he won where all the bad news was |
|
Out and he still won his second term
The reason Gore lost, though that is debatable was that his campaigned sucked
Gore also ran away from Clinton in spite of the good economy

I think the Koch Brothers had this sort of government shutdown and meltdown in mind when they funded the Tea Party. They don't care that teabaggers will fail in the next election; they just want to see a lot of unemployed proletariat willing to work for nothing without benefits, and a government that can no longer provide any sort of meaningful safety net. They've no doubt invested their billions in non-dollar, non-treasury assets. They'll be waiting to pick up the pieces.

8. You're saying that the private banks were too big to fail.. |
|
so we came up with Trillions on the spot to bail them out, but Treasury is going to let our sovereign debt go unpaid?
And we're supposed to pretend this is a real crisis?

9. Democrats, including Obama, are just as much to blame. |
|
In fact, I still think this is all theater merely to mollify each party's base and they're only going through these motions to make it appear that "we just had to eliminate social security and medicare because, well, the sky is falling and it's the best we can do."
Just listen to what obama himself has said over and over. He doesn't seem to think much of the new deal. He offers 9-to-1 ratio spending cuts/revenue -- a joke in and of itself. All indications are that what will be laughingly referred to as "the best compromise" will be 100% spending cuts with some vague "we'll get around to it real soon now" revenue "promise." I'll bet you $1 that obama does his robo-pen trick. This piece of work we have as a president is turning out to be worse than bush's third term.
Both parties, including obama, are doing this charade at the behest of their bankster backers. It's already been decided by all involved that it is time to scuttle the country. All else is just Soviet-style theater.

14. I've been thinking this for long time now. |
|
It's all about Globalization, and both parties are complicit, just doing the bidding of their International Corporate owners. The PTB in this world have no loyality to this, or any other country. It's all about wealth and power, and it's a blood sport to them. Unfortunately, it's our blood they're letting.

But i have a lot less to lose i guess. I have never owned ANYTHING, never held a job for more than a few years, no retirement, lifetime renter with a sec. 8 HUD voucher, couldn't even buy my own used car my folks had to help...
So all this stuff seems so 'out of my league' as far as wall st. and global economy, etc. I have heard people say that one of the consequences of default is the cash will dry up... well i never seem to have much of that anyway. And I don't understand what the cash drying up will mean, because I guess I can figure out a way to barter or hunker down with my 'community' (close friends and fam) anyway...The house? well if the govt stops helping me with rent, it depends on how bad it looks....if all of society as we know it is crumbling, i'll friggin' squat...if not, i hope my folks will help me with some cheap land and a trailer...that's the best i can come up with.
so ya, done, done, done... it has to crumble so we can rebuild it. it doesn't have to look as horrific as we may think, but the OLD world ways of illusory finances is over. What holds real value? Community, helping others, what you can do with your hands, food, water, etc...

19. My apathy is setting back in too, especially when I see liberals use a vile and wretched GOP who |
|
is a minority as a scapegoat. Most people know that the GOP is to blame in many areas. However, just simply sitting back and blaming the GOP is not the solution to our problems.
This whole idea of compromising with an insane and ruinous GOP is ludicrous. It would be nice to have a President that realizes this and uses the media in a correct fashion to carry this message. However, this would take a leader with conviction and courage. Lofty rhetoric on how to steer our sinking ship back towards a lighthouse may sound good, but at the end of the day it take action, details, and conviction.
When the GOP wants to pull us out further into dangerous waters, Dems seek compromise. How fucking ludicrous is that?
