Everybody forgot about "The Undefeated" and for good reason.

I decided to check in on it to see how the right's latest "blockbuster" - at least if you heard them crow about it last week... - is doing and found out that it's combined total for the two weeks has been $101,000.

The distributors were talking about releasing it to more theaters, don't know if they actually did but since the first weekend grossed about $65,000...abysmal by just about every measure... that means that the second weekend gross was pitiful.

Total Lifetime Grosses
Domestic: $101,000
Domestic Summary
Opening Weekend: $65,132
(#40 rank, 10 theaters, $6,513 average)
% of Total Gross: 64.5%
> View All Weekends
Widest Release: 14 theaters
In Release: 10 days / 1.4 weeks

Probably doesn't help that the movie poster looks like an old Soviet-style propaganda flier...

5. That might not actually be that terrible of a per screen average...
I want to laugh at her as much as anyone...but that screen average isn't too bad for a documentary...

6. Bwah! Look at the "grades"
Your Grade Log in
Grade Breakdown
As: 47 62.7%
Bs: 1 1.3%
Cs: 1 1.3%
Ds: 1 1.3%
Fs: 25 33.3%

The majority of people who viewed it were Palin devotees (obviously), and the 2nd largest group appears to be the Pailn NOT devotees!

This feels so good!

7. Should rename this stinker "The Unattended"
I'll bet they got 10% of their sales from people who couldn't buy a tic for Harry Potter, so they bought one for this show and used that to sneak in.

10. Yep, it's heading where all blockbuster movies go after only two weeks...
WAL*MART !!11!1!!!11!!!

"Santa Monica, Calif. (PRWEB) July 24, 2011 - Victory Film Group and ARC Entertainment, the distributor of "The Undefeated," the film about Gov. Sarah Palin's rise from obscurity to national prominence, jointly announced today that beginning on September 1st the film will be available to 75 million homes via Video on Demand and Pay-Per-View access through national and regional cable and satellite operators. The DVD will launch on October 4th and will be available at traditional and online retailers nationwide. ARC is estimating its initial unit shipment to be approximately 250,000 units. A "Special Edition" DVD will contain additional new content and will only be sold in Walmart stores. ARC will continue to expand the limited engagement theatrical release nationwide throughout August and September as demand across the country remains high.

Trevor Drinkwater, CEO of ARC Entertainment, said, "Since the film opened in select markets across the country on July 15th we have been inundated with requests from people wanting the film to be made available in their market. After methodically analyzing the most effective ways to bring this galvanizing film to the widest audience as soon as possible we have determined that continued limited theatrical distribution, Video-on-Demand, Pay-Per-View and DVD sales will be the best modalities by which to deliver this film as widely as possible. We have created partnerships with national cable, satellite and mass retailers to achieve our distribution goals."

"This title is absolutely perfect for Video-on-Demand and Pay-Per-View backed by a traditional and significant marketing campaign. We are incredibly excited about having this film made available to the entire country earlier than expected," said Glenn Bracken Evans, the film's producer. "A traditional windowed release would not have allowed us to maximize viewership of this highly sought after film," continued Evans.

<snip>

Filmmaker Stephen K. Bannon stated, "Given the strong audience reaction we have determined there is overwhelming demand for us to get this film out broadly enough to cover the entire nation in September and October. In a 90-day period from August to November we will be able to effectively cover the nation through multiple distribution modalities."

I found the above over at Freeperland. There was only one poster that opined that this actually indicated failure. His statement drew cries of foul, like flies to a dog turd on a hot summer day.

His detractors insist that this is a genius move, and Sarah will make lots more money this way!

Seriesly...I am not casting asparagus 11!1!!11!
