I saw a few minutes of the musical "1776", and was astounded when I heard the Tea Party explained: |
|
John Dickinson: "...don't forget that most men without property would rather protect the possibility of becoming rich, than face the reality of being poor."
The film was released in 1972.

1. Sounds like most Republicans to me, not just tea partiers.... |
|
Republicans love to pretend that the rich provide jobs and that trickle down works! We just need to keep on giving the rich more tax breaks and we may possibly become rich like them. How naive can they be? That has never worked and it never will no matter what Ronnie Reagan said. Dumb Shits!

4. I played "Stephen Hopkins - Old Delegate from Rhode Island" in High School |
|
So I remember 1776 very well. The entire "Cool Considerate Men" Number is a perfect description of Right-Wingism
"To the Right, ever to the Right, never to the LEFT, forever to the right!"

9. Yes, but that scene wasn't seen until the most recent DVD release. |
|
The song in question was cut from the film, believe it or not, at the request of President Nixon. It's discussed on the DVD commentary.
