Is Washington about to destroy America in the next week? |
|
Edited on Mon Jul-25-11 11:13 AM by Cyrano
That’s not an abstract question. If the tea bag lunatics in congress let us default on our debt by a week from tomorrow, here’s some of the things that will happen.
The military will not be paid.
Social Security checks will stop going out.
Medicare/Medicaid claims will not be paid.
America’s credit in the world will become worthless.
We will lose what small amount of credibility we have left in the world and our creditors will suck our last ounce of blood.
Yet a small group of tea bag maniacs have the Republican Party by the balls. Their threat is to defeat any Republican congressman or senator who doesn’t obey their insane agenda.
And of course it’s working. Very few politicians really care about the well being of America. They care only about getting reelected and fuck everything else.
We the people are the vast majority. Yet we are totally helpless to stop a small handful of really crazy people from destroying us. So what can we do about it? My guess is that we can only sit on the sidelines and watch. After all, they have the power. We have zilch.
It may be that we deserve to go down the toilet given the insanity of American politics over the last few decades. But it’s not just the bad guys who will end up in the sewer. It will be all of us.
And I’ll be damned if I can come up with any way in which we can save ourselves. Any suggestions?

18. Pick your date: The assassination of President Kennedy? The assassination of MLK? The assassination |

of Robert Kennedy? Iran/Contra? The CROOK, Nixon resigning? The day the SCOTUS appointed the idiot-in-chief the President of the United States. THEIR actions THAT day put us where we are today. OR, choose any freakin' disastrous day the idiot-in-chief was in office for 8 years. The 2 wars he started, the Patriot Act, the tax cuts for the wealthy, the murders of thousands of innocent men, women and children in Iraq and Afghanistan. Take your pick.
What do all those things have in common? REPUBLICANS DOING EVIL THINGS.

But don't underestimate the insanity of those who control the vote in the House of Representatives.
Maybe we'll get "saved" by Obama caving in and granting every wet dream the lunatics ever had. That's one possibility.
There are, of course, other possibilities. And one of those possibilities is that the tea baggers will get their way and we'll go into default.
The reality is that whether we end up in default or not, the outcome is going to be tremendously ugly.

You have to serve for 5 years before you get the perks...that's one term for Senators and 3 for House members...so the Tea Baggers who got elected last year won't get much, if they get anything at all!
Which is probably one reason why several of the remaining "Blue Dogs" aren't running for re-election...they've been in office long enough to get the bennies... why go through another campaign, when you don't have to.

Government in the bathtub as their Koch brothers organizations want them to do, they'll have jobs, just like every crooked GOP politicians who retired to work for lobbying firms. The Blue Dogs already have their contracts. They're striking while the iron is hot to rip off as much as possible, they know they'll escape the problems.
Those bennies are nothing compared to what they're signed onto. That was for people who believed in keeping government working. Tea partiers have their meetings offshore on yachts, in foreign countries with the homes their stolen monies provide, in country clubs where the common folk can't enter to complain.
Behind closed doors, they finish up dividing the spoils, the last of the commons, the parks, buildings and infrastructure. They donh't think the majority needs education, healthcare, police or fire services. We see what happens in Teabagger run states. Really, they're not afraid of anything. Much less losing their job.
The same gang that entered office with Bush in 2000 bragged that when they left in 2008 that there wouldn't be enough left to turn the lights off with their 'starve the beast,'style. This is what the teabaggers believe, that the US government and every other form of regulation of unbridled corporatism must be closed down.

a reason to exist. It's all insecure Ego. I literally cannot stand to look @ Cantor w/o wanting to retch. What an evil little man he is.
I THINK we have enough Democratic Senators who are not bought and paid to hold off a worse catastrophe.
Keep an eye on who Obama takes up in AF1 for hints on who might cave.
btw - as in the collapse of the Roman Empire, our Senate has become worthless and powerless. They no longer have the power of subpena (Rove). They can reprimand the CIC for starting his own war, but he still ignores them!
Do they recognize what a pitiful display they are?

Nonetheless, we may be seeing a lot of "small plane crashes" and other such "accidents." Such things always seem to happen when the powers that be need for them to happen.
Having said this, there's only eight days left until the clock runs out on default. And I doubt whether that many "accidents" could plausibly occur in that short a period of time.

22. Yep, a few "chosen" ones got to congress. But the |
|
unwashed masses out there parading around in their idiotic Revolutionary costumes are nothing more than fools who haven't gotten it and never will.
Yes, the Tea Party "movement" was originally astro turf laid down by the Koch brothers and Dick Armey. But no one really knows how many of them are out there today who really believe the shit they've been fed.
It's possible that the Tea Party has taken on a life of its own and isn't answerable to the Koch Brothers, Dick Armey, or anyone or anything else but their own demented beliefs. And the "Tea Baggers" currently in elected office are dependent on these fools to vote for them again.
The irony is that many of these people are on Social Security and Medicare. And it would be pure justice to watch them screw themselves, if they weren't screwing everyone else in the process.
