Steve King on default: Obama could be impeached

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said Monday that President Barack Obama “would be impeached” if the nation falls into default.

“STOP talking about default,” he wrote on Twitter. “The 1st dime of each $1 of revenue services debt. Obama would be impeached if he blocked debt payments. C C & B!”

King is among the House Republicans who voted for the so-called “Cut, Cap and Balance” plan that would introduce a constitutional amendment to require a balanced budget. The Senate last week dismissed the House bill.

King isn’t the first Republican to suggest that Obama should be impeached over the debt crisis.

8. And he'll still do everything he can to be friends
He has to understand that they're not "reasonable" people, and has to call them out for the monarchic louts they are. They will not bend. This is war, and he has to stop being a fine fellow about things.

How does he not get this?

3. Isn't that the intent?
Force a default, start impeachment proceedings (however ludicrous), hamstring him for the rest of his term.

6. I think you are right. I knew the plan was to blame Obama for the disaster they are going to create
But it hadn't occurred to me they were going to try to Impeach in 2012.

9. Money allocation is 100% the responsibility of Congress, especially the House.
It's Boner's fuckup, and the Tea Party Congressmen's, no matter what.

Obama wouldn't even have to participate at all, if he didn't want to, expect to sign or not sign a bill.

10. This shouldn't be a surprise. All they want to do is get him out of office.
It's too bad there's a chunk of the left that's been fooled into thinking POTUS is in cahoots with these Republican shitbirds and are also wanting him out of office. Maybe they can all put their heads together.

13. Maybe we should impeach the entire House since it refuses to raise the debt ceiling.
P.S. I know one cannot impeach a Congress critter.

14. Impeachment would help him get re-elected. Remember Clinton's rise in the polls--
--after he was impeached?

16. And what crime or misdeed would Obama have committed if Congress fails to
do its job properly? That makes zero sense.

I've had a conversation with his rival. If I have time, I may work for her campaign. I'm going to work on my long-time republican family members to vote D this year.

20. Well, yeah sure. But he wouldn't be convicted by the Senate.
And even if Obama won re-election, the Senate went republican, they'd be "stuck" with President Biden. And do they really want that??
