Shooter Loughner's comments about "illiteracy" explicitly racist of "English Only" type.
He stated that "if you know English grammar" (which he obviously did not) "you are literate", then went on to complain about how many "people" in District 8 are "illiterate".
He was just using a roundabout way of expressing his racist notions.
Nobody in the media seems to want to mention this.

as the basis of literacy...not just grammar but ENGLISH grammar. I do believe that comment was directed at Tucson's large Spanish speaking population.
