The news tonight was that John Boehner made an total ass of himself. |
|
He crossed a line in his tone toward the President of the United States. He's following in the ignominious footsteps of Old Speaker Newt. Newtie lost the respect of the people, and his power, by showing distain and contempt for President Clinton. People hated that. Nobody likes to see naked power grabs by small minded little thugs who have no respect for the truth. Boehner came out tonight stinking like a sewer, and the sneering lies that engulfed his nasty orange face were just too markedly obvious to be overlooked or excused by anyone with an ounce of reason or sensibility. What a sorry display. Republicans continue their plunge to the bottom.

He knows he's up against someone of greater stature in every regard, but he's a weak, frightened little sell-out just doing what he's told. It showed tonight. I haven't seen a man more transparently lying since the last time George W. Bush opened his mouth.

and it is pretty apparent that he knows it. Though I understand their supposed reasoning for letting him give a *rebuttal* I don't agree with it. He has NO equality in stature with the President. None.
He should not have been given *equal time* He is not the President. Period.
Even the more *leaning forward* media is disrespecting the office of President in allowing this. If the President wants to speak, the President, no matter who it is, should be given the right to speak. And if Boehner and his hooligan buddies think they deserve it, they are bigger buffoons than what they look like now.

We aren't invited to negotiate the fate of the country with him, nor do we have to maintain (the appearance of) an atmosphere of amicability. The American public does not watch us on TV and pass judgement on us as a credible alternative to him.
We are, however, entitled to our opinions.

68. Listening to him talk last night... |
|
.... I swear to you, as I listened to his speech I tried to picture myself as completely neutral, unbiased, unfamiliar with him or the American political system, and all I could think was "This asshole is one of the biggest, slimiest liars I have ever heard in my entire life." Not only was he clearly a lying sack of shit, but a sleazebag and an idiot too. I just kept thinking "How in the name of God could anyone possibly listen to this piece of crap and believe a word he has to say?" It wasn't that he was representing an ideology that is toxic to me, it's that he was low-class, clearly full of himself (e.g. full of shit) and without a valid argument to make. No dignity. No gravitas. No statesmanship. Just a whining corporate bitch, being told what to say by his masters. And that is what gets me about these fucking Republicans, every single time. They don't have an original thought in their heads. They don't reason or rationalize things out. They just get their marching orders from shit like Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity, and off they go.
