A couple of weeks ago I was scared, now I'm fucking pissed!
How dare he threaten my social security check?! Again!

Does he realize it's not just me he threatens?

He threatens my landlord because I won't be able to pay my rent.

He threatens my pharmacy because I won't be able to buy my meds,

He threatens the local health system because I will become ill (both from the conditions my meds are prescribed for and from withdrawal from these same meds) and end up in the hospital.

He threatens my local economy because I won't be able to buy the few pitiful things I am able to buy at Walmart each month.

He threatens my local utilities because I won't be able to pay my bills.

He threatens my credit card company because I won't be able to make my pathetic minimum payment.

Total ALL those threats that are personal to me by all the other "grandmas" who have to spend all their social security checks in the first week of the month as I do and that is an enormous threat to the national economy.

I may end up homeless but I'll still have my fucking vote and people who threaten me DO NOT get my vote!

17. "He" is who put Aug 3rd SS checks on the line.
By saying the checks won't go out if the Debt Ceiling isn't raised. The "Democratic" President.

3. A government default affects everyone. Its the republicans who threaten you.

This is being considered inspite of your needs, not because of them. Don;t forget to contact your congressman.

4. Are there cuts to the BENEFITS? That's what I'm unclear about.
Knowing government, there's ways to cut costs here and there without taking any money out of recipients' pockets (and should have been done long ago).

We hear so many things but nothing has gone for a vote, nothing has been agreed to, so I'm really trying not to go ballistic (again) until/unless I know for sure something will happen (and I'm not a recipient of any of the Big Three, but I'll be as furious as those who are should they be affected).

13. Yes, they're jiggering the formula for COLA increases
so that 10 years down the line, the yearly take will be $1000 lighter than it would be if they left it alone.

It's more Screw the Boomers, in other words, what the plutocracy has always done best.

Scare me with a lie?! Manipulate me? Make me physically ill with fright?

No vote from me, no fucking way. I'll write in a progressive Democrat if there is no Primary challenger.

19. Well, I can't blame you for feeling that way; however, I have heard the word "default"
being uttered as a possibility by nearly everyone in the debate.

Default, as it applies the US Treasury, would entail not paying the interest on the bonds it issues, or paying off the bonds that have reached maturity. These are the "public debts that shall not be questioned," pursuant to the 14th. The SS trust fund holds $2.6 trillion worth of T-bonds.

We've been hearing quite a bit about the 14th of late. I don't know who invented the idea that the Executive branch has the the unilateral power to borrow, but they are just as wrong about that as they are about the possibility of a default.

However, the 14th does require that we pay our bills and we have more than enough money to do that.

11. Don't be disingenouous.
Clinton paid social security out and didn't lower himself to threaten us "grandma's" to make a political point.

Do they wish to have their benefits cut rather than tax the rich a little more?
