Arkansas High School Decides to Appoint White Co-Valedictorian Because Actual Valedictorian Is Black

OK, see if you can wrap your head around the (racist) logic here. Kymberly Wimberly was the top student at McGehee Secondary School in Little Rock, Arkansas. So, the school named her valedictorian. And then shortly after that they decided to name a co-valedictorian. Why? Because the other student had equally as high a GPA? Nope. The reason it seems has to do with the fact that Wimberly is a black student. According to Think Progress:

School administrators worried that Wimberly's accomplishment would result in a "big mess" at the majority-white school, so Principal Darrell Thompson told the student's mother "that he decided to name a white student as co-valedictorian," even though the white student had a lower G.P.A. The matter is currently pending in federal court.

A decision like this by anyone is absolutely unacceptable, but is especially troubling coming from a person who is supposed to be the head educator at this school. What exactly are they teaching students at McGehee Secondary School? ...........(more)

1. This is a great opportunty for the "co-valedictorian" to make a statement.
They would rue the day they ever chose me for that "honor". My graduation speech would be ..... interesting.

If they protested it or if they just went along with it?

Edited to add: Agreed. The Vulcan Science Directorate has determined that time travel is not possible.

3. I went to private school
and it was definitely majority white. The Valedictorian of my graduating class was black.

I don't get why that would cause "a big mess".

6. Yes, the will get upset.
As we see with President Obama every day, the rightists hate to see an African American out in front when they consider it their "aryan right by birth".

PEACE!

Studied and studied
Her way to success

"But", said a school
With the shakiest principals,
"A sole validictory

9. Then they need to do this next year too, but reversed roles
Just shows how the school administrators are out of touch or they have ONE person on their staff that think their daughter (white) should have won.

Just like with Obama, If Biden wasn't on the ticket he might not have gotten job.
