Republicans feel the ONLY chance they have to win the Presidency is if the economy turns bad again and of course it will then be Obama's fault. I would have to agree with them that it would indeed be Obama's fault but not in the way the Republicans will try and spin it. Obama has stated numerous times that the Republican policies of the last decade have created the economic problems we are experiencing today and yet he allows himself to continue these policies and even gives them credence from time to time. This made up crisis over the Debt Ceiling is a prime example. Everything the Republicans are saying is the exact opposite of what needs to be done to turn the country around and that is on purpose... Republicans want failure. They NEED failure, just as they NEEDED a 9-11 to really expand their ideology and spend America into oblivion...If sanity does not return to the Democrats it is going to be a very very long decade I fear..Republicans tried to pull almost the exact same thing when Bill Clinton first came to the whitehouse.. Republicans stood in lock-step and made numerous speeches on the floor of the House stating how Clinton's Budget would destroy America. Remember we were in serious recession at that time as well having just been through two Reagan terms and one Bush term.. The economy was teetering badly at the time. Remember "It's the Economy, Stupid". Well each and every republican made a huge deal out of how ONLY their policies could save America and Clinton's would destroy us.. Well Democrats had some spine back then and Clinton's first budget managed to pass but ONLY because Al Gore had to cast the tie breaking vote. The rest of the story is history, America went on to experience the "Greatest Economic Expansion in History" which showed up Republicans for just what they were and still are. Tools for the wealthy and nothing more, and yet we learned NOTHING from that. NOTHING at all because we are having exactly the very same argument. But Democrats are hunkered down allowing Republicans their way...Why is that? Why are we not allowed to show our results compared to Republicans... WHY?
