What day do people bury their money?
How long until people start moving money to safer places? And what are those safer places?

10. Q: how much gold do I need to purchase that crust of bread?
A: how much you got? (cue sound of shotgun being racked)

I don't believe the old rules of supply & demand will still apply if the economy tanks.

2. If you can find a good, stable credit union, that's the way to go IMO.
Keep the money in the community with community oversight.

4. Years and years ago my grandfather took his money, lots of it, and buried it all
in various locations in his backyard. Banks were failing all over the place.

5. And what if that money doesn't have value any longer?
Makes me think all those people buying gold have wanted, and expected, our economy to go belly up.

9. Hah, I'm taking the max loan from my 401k this week and stashing it ..
... in my credit union (FDIC insured) in the event that a market downturn caused by a ratings downgrade would wipe a chunk of it out.

19. I have quite a few thousand in my Bank of America
savings account, which is FDIC insured. I cashed in my 401K and my IRA several years ago and put the money in a savings account. It was a lot safer there with the markets tanking. I am still deciding what to invest in. In the meantime, it is safe in the bank.

16. Bury it? Why bother, soon it will come in as
a useful substitute for toilet paper and kleenex as we flood the market with it via "Quantitive Easing" 3.x election year edition.
