There is a whole bunch of very weird shit going on here.

1. Manufactured emergency
2. Trying to push austerity through, while shielding the rich from any real harm
3. Attempting to take away the normal natural process of debate/amending that slows down bad legislation
4. Whole country is about to enter great depression
5. We won't be able to borrow as easily to climb back out of it
6. What will the FDIC do if it can't borrow money from the government?

What pit of snakes has this nation fallen into? Perhaps it's just natural that such a corrupt system cannot stand. Perhaps what makes it powerful, makes it fall eventually, and we are witnessing that happen.

1. Yes I noticed that too. WH/OMB has now issued veto threat on Boehner deficit bill.

2. Capitalism has a fatal flaw that is not addressed.
Greed can put a hold on people and make them do evil things....and when such a system has no laws and customs that prevent it, the greedy and ruthless will rise to the top...and a sufficient number have arisen will then understand they have the power to control the system....once that happens it is all over for democracy.

3. The Bush tax cuts needed to expire
Thereby promoting the flow of money through the system. That's how democracy stays alive. Otherwise, it's "oligarchy, here we come".

4. Have people really never heard of joint select committees?
Congress does this all the time. It's how they pass the budget just about every year they pass one. It's how they passed health care reform.

5. The problem is not solely that it is that type of committee...
It's that they won't have the ability to do anything with the recommendations. So it acts less like a committee, and more like it's own house of Congress.

6. Right, that's how reconciliation works, too
It's how health care passed, if you recall. It's also how BRAC works.
