Poor Misunderstood Media
Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 11:09 PM by SoCalDem
All weekend-long, I have seen prompter-reader after prompter reader in full-flummox mode.

They seem to be unable to wrap their minds around the fact that so many people are actually attributing some of the blame to their coverage of the stuff they rely on...strife..right v left... snarky verbal attacks..false equivalency of "sides" (right v left, instead of right v wrong).

They are hurt and confused that anyone would dare to sully the LIVE airwaves with some un re-touched truth.

Don Lemon, today, actually cut away from a re-airing of a live interview because after the point he cut the audio, the man being interviewed dared to voice an opinion.. How dare an individual who was sought out for his opinion, also dare to actually express it? Good Ole Don happily paraphrased it & told us why he was not airing it. Then he invites Neal Boortz to "comment" on the issue...Neal BOORTZ..

How odd, since all during "TeaBag People Summer Vacation",

we were "treated" to endless re-running of all their taunts & slurs & bullying, and were reminded that this was "Democracy in Action"... that it was exciting and even fun.

The story they missed was the one that would have told us the real story. That was the one that would have identified the people behind the "movement". For instance, there was a woman who "tweeted & facebooked" her fingers to the bone, promoting all this grassroots activism, all-the-while as an policy analyst with AMA, who was just an uninterested bystander to the "We-hate-health care-for-all" falderal.

And NOW, they are once again, missing the real story.. The story behind the story is the way the right cloaks itself in anger & stokes the fires of violence, only to run & hide when it happens.

2. Objectivity (facts) vs. "fairness." Check out European coverage
of this story vs. US--in Europe they are objective.

The Fourth Estate is the one that will destroy democracy as we know it in the US.

4. I'm afraid so. When I was in Europe during the 2004 campaign, the difference in coverage
was absolutely astonishing.

I remember Cronkite. watergate would never have felled a president if it happened today--not sexy enough for a 24 hour "news" cycle.
