No idea what actually caused this, but it's a storage area full of plastic containers apparently.

3. They just said, I think, this is feed/produce fire where the polyetheline containers are...
...burning madly.

Fire dept reporting this is not a threat. They say this is not toxic smoke.

Look at those flames....

4. Polystirene is toxic
granted if this is far enough... it will "go away" but it is toxic. We used to treat any fire involving this crap as a HAZMAT response. (Granted you can treat almost all fires that way... but)

9. Just to be clear, it was referred to as polyethylene, specifically.
I know that's a non-toxic food grade plastic but I don't know much more than that. And of course, any kind of smoke like this is not good for breathing nomatter how 'non-toxic' it's considered.

Not a fun thing... when mixed with proper chemical, don't ask, won't post you get essentially NAPALM

5. 4 alarm plastics co. fire
http://www.news10.net/news/article/147238/2/4-alarm-plastics-fire-darkens-sky-over-Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CA - Thick, black smoke is filling the sky over Fairfield from a plastics company fire.

The Fairfield Fire Department says it appears plastic barrels are burning at Macro Plastics Inc. at 2250 Huntington Drive. Crews have called a fourth alarm.

According to Macro Plastics website, it manufactures packaging using polyethylene and polopropylene plastics.

A dispatcher for the fire department said there hasn't been a directive to shelter-in-place but residents were urged to stay indoors.

28. Yeah, that's a lot of smoke! My wife called me earlier (she was driving to work)
to tell me about it. It was a lot smaller then (about 1 hour ago). Seems like it is spreading out east toward Vacaville.
