The GOP's racism has driven them mad
The debt ceiling has never been an issue before and the only reason it is an issue now is because the repugs let loose their core racist beliefs when they unleashed the teabaggers. They are now willing to fuck over the country in the belief it will make a black man look bad.

2. The debt ceiling issue is nothing more than a chance for Ds & Rs
to get in some good political posturing. When the Ds have the power, the Rs morph into budget hawks. Likewise, the reverse applies.

7. Minority votes mean nothing. GOP has a majority and are blocking debt ceiling raise.
Edited on Tue Jul-26-11 05:43 PM by KeepItReal
The Dems could vote no as a means to make a statement, knowing full well they would not actually block passage of the debt ceiling increase.

Edit to add: if the Denate Dems were serious back then, they could have filibustered a debt ceiling increase. They did not.

8. You seem to be suggesting that making a political statement is not political posturing...
when, in fact, that is exactly what it is.

Response to edit: Spending bills cannot be filibustered.

4. If you're talking about the voters ... maybe.
If you're talking about the pukes in DC, no.

They're after total control of our political and economic system.

They just use racism to fire up their base.

5. If they think defaulting will get them either...
They are indeed mad and using racism makes them racist.

6. But racism isn't what's driving their ambitions
And that's what we need to focus on in a know-your-enemy sort of way.

(Defaulting will get them plenty if the Dems get the blame)
