The ads at DU are so well targeted it's kind of freaky to me.

I was shopping amazon for a backpack. I get ads for the exact backpack I was interested in. I was searching google for a piece of aquarium lighting. I get ads for the same lighting. I haven't had an ill targeted ad for a few weeks and frankly it's kind of bothering me. I feel like I'm being watched. :suspicious::shiftyeyes:

2. Firefox with AdBlock is your friend....

Yes, you are being watched-- the shopping sites you visited left cookies on your computer that OTHER advertisers can use to target their offerings for you. On the one hand, this is somewhat convenient. On the other hand, I have no interest in sharing my shopping history with anyone unless they ask me first.

AdBlock doesn't stop the egregious invasion of privacy, of course, but it does prevent them from serving you the ad!
