If my experiences today are at all representative... the GOP is in trouble |

Now, granted, I live in Denver and thus the odds are that most people you meet are DEMS, but we have our majority share of totally unaware and uninvolved folks as well. Yet today, I had a total of five strangers bring up their total disgust with what is going on in DC (though neither party was specifically named nor blamed). To have this happen--totally unsolicited--is pretty much unheard of for me. Yet, twice in Bed, Bath & Beyond the subject was brought up by sales staff and I overheard three other conversations in line at the grocery store, gas station, and in Walgreens.
People are royally pissed and unless I am totally misreading, the intransigence and overt arrogance of the RETHUGS is not going to be forgotten.
I can only hope my experience is consistent with the national tone and temper...

1. I hope so. The nation was founded on people trying to work together for |
|
a democracy and some sense of fairness. Yep, it did not occur for everyone and some pretty outrageous events occurred, but what we have now is a party trying to bring the entire nation down. These republicans are not fit to hold office.

3. I think the Republicans made a mistake of picking this battle |
|
Now that the FAA is impacted by the same type of decisions by the Repugs..
When interest rates skyrocket and the world market reacts....
It's gonna be a very bad year for the Republicans..

They might even remember it for a couple days after the limit is raised. Oh heck, I'll go all out and say they might remember it for a week.

5. In my opinion, the debt ceiling debate is a political side show. The |
|
American public is only concerned with ONE thing ... jobs. Until President Obama and the Congressional Democrats seriously address this vitally important issue, then everything else is just window dressing, and as you said, easily forgotten.

10. Until they remember thing #2 |

What's going to happen after a default? ALL the interest rates go up, yup, that 21% credit card will go up to 34%. Risk, you know. So when Americans see the jumbo-sized dildo that the banks have ready for them in the new debt environment, thing #1 is going to have company.

11. I agree. I'm wondering what will happen to the interest rate on my |
|
primary card. The credit union just lowered my rate from 10 to 8 percent. I suppose it will be back on the way up soon. Bummer.

8. The Republicans don't care about the American people |
|
As long as there "sugar daddies" are ok the Republican are happy. If every Republican were to loose there next election (wishful thinking) they would all have high paying jobs in the industries which now pours money in there pockets, with in a few days.

After the speeches one friend posted, "I support my president." Lots of likes and supportive comments.
Another friend (bless her sad, deluded little heart) posted, "AMEN...John Boehner!!" She got one post - a link to the Bloomberg article, "Republican Leaders Voted for Debt Drivers They Blame on Obama"

I remember some doubts about whether the tea party candidates could actually handle the job once they got there. I guess that we are seeing the answer.
