CNN: Mitch 'McConnell... insisted Obama is "clinging" to hope for a "massive tax hike."'

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-California, accused Republicans of trying to "undermine government" and "destroy" vital programs; McConnell, R-Kentucky, insisted Obama is "clinging" to hope for a "massive tax hike."

It sure looks like President Obama and Democrats are determined to fight it out.

No one knows what the final plan will be, so let's stop pretending we do.

It ain't over 'til it's over. ;)

4. Rope-a-DOPE: Stir up drama & fear, then in final hour, pull a rabitt/deal out the hat, over w/End
works like a charm every time.

the only real question now is how much will be given to the elite via cuts to entitlements and other benefits.

5. There's no question of SS and Medicare benefits being cut. That's non-negotiable to Pres. Obama.
Edited on Tue Jul-26-11 09:35 PM by ClarkUSA
Fearmongering rhetoric aside, there's no factual basis for anyone alleging that it will be. Since his 2011 SOTU, President Obama has said that cutting SS and Medicare costs and fraud is something that he wants to do but NOT BENEFITS.

7. That's not what he has been saying... did you hear his speech last night talking of painful cuts?
and there have been plenty of news articles on what they are discussing.

try google if you missed it.

:hi:

8. Nice try. I listened to every word. Pres. Obama NEVER mentioned cutting SS and Medicare benefits.

Why are you trying to mislead people?

10. well here is the part where he talks about painful cuts...
This approach is also bipartisan. While many in my own party aren't happy with the PAINFUL CUTS it makes, enough will be willing to accept them if the burden is fairly shared. While Republicans might like to see deeper cuts and no revenue at all, there are many in the Senate who have said "Yes, I'm willing to put politics aside and consider this approach because I care about solving the problem." And to his credit, this is the kind of approach the Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner, was working on with me over the last several weeks.

and like I said there are also a lot of articles out there that give you the gist of what is being discussed.

not to mention this isn't the only time Obama mentioned the cuts he has on the table.

hope this helps.

13. So what? Pres. Obama has explicitly ruled out any cuts to SS or Medicare benefits ...
Edited on Tue Jul-26-11 11:50 PM by ClarkUSA
... which contradicts your fearmongering speculation here re: cuts to "benefits":

11. As we all well know, if Obama wants any revenue
it will be defined as ,at minimum, a massive tax hike.

Not being dumb as dog turds and wicked as sin is not fighting it out.

The no revenue stance is stupid to the point of insanity but they'll probably get it or damn close and the reamings will increase.
