You want to be socially responsible while snacking
or doing other things that you do every day anyway?

Homeboy industries, it is an LA based organization giving jobs to at risk youth.

Here, link..

I buy their chips. I am going to buy them anyway... and theirs actually place these kids at a job and, we get tasty chips. We all win.

1. K/R and I met Fr. Boyle, who founded homeboy industries. Awesome man...
Awesome program, and replicable in other cities.

5. I like them...
...they have a silkscreening facility up the street from one of my clients (also a silkscreening company) near downtown L.A., a retail outlet near Chinatown (I think it's on Alameda), plus, they have a booth selling many different baked goods, at the weekly Friday night "Family Festival" farmer's market in Monrovia, one block away from my house.

Good stuff, k'n'r.

7. Why don't you go and ask? I mean this is AN OPEN SHOP
by definition... and it is an apprenticeship program. You can certainly appreciate that the population it works with would be non hirable without this in a union shop, RIGHT? Or perhaps you do not get that. I am sure some of these kids do move on to Union shops, whatever remains of them.

9. I see that they're not actually making the salty snacks and salsa, but putting their name on it.
I was interested if the people were actually making the food, but they're not; it's licensed.

"Apprenticeship" has a very specific definition when talking about union and nonunion shops; it doesn't just mean "unskilled" or "new."
