Anytime a politician uses that phrase they should be asked what they are giving up........
The answer will be nothing, if you get an answer

2. Getting rid of the Bush tax cuts would be a sacrifice in that they would pay more taxes. |
|
On the other hand if you insist that they give up all their assets and live on food stamps then no they aren't going to sacrifice.
What level would satisfy you?

14. Heck I am all for rescinding every last penny of that cut to balance the budget. |
|
But I'm not into taxing as punishment or anything. It just feels odd to revel in taxing people.

17. Hard to figure you out |
|
Ever since 1980 this country has been sliding down the slippery path to ancient history.
It seems you do not feel that taxing people that make millions is the answer. So tell me what you would like to be done to make this country healthy

End the wars within a year, all troops home, no private contract military paid by the US End oil subsidies End the bush tax cuts at the end of the year Raise the tax rates for the more wealthy up to reagan era rates, I believe 70% was the top then Fund the regulatory agencies so they can protect the American people Raise the cap on Social Security Tax hedge funds as normal income unless they can prove capital gains
For a start
And according to the law of the land at this time the bush tax cuts are ending on their own, so your premise is flawed It seems it is all or nothing in your options you gave me And I was talking about politicians
And I never said they needed to give up all their assets, would not make any sense to do that I just love people that supply words that no one said

12. Did you read the OP, do you listen to the news, Have you not heard |
|
politicians talk about how everyone is going to have to tighten our belts, sacrifice, and it will be a shared sacrifice?? It sounds as if you have had your head in the sand.
Perhaps when you talk about taxing someone an extra 3-5% on their last million it really is not very personal. But when you talk about someone that has to decide whether they should pay the house payment this month, or should they spend their money on food. Then it gets personal.
Okay what personal sacrifice are congress people going to feel??

20. They're not going to sacrifice anything, but personally, |
|
I think it's way past time they feel our pain. The Bush tax cut would not be a sacrifice, just an irritant, (like a mosquito buzzing around), but it would be a good start.

I sacrifice the ability to obtain medical care for the rest of my soon to be short life and the poor little rich people sacrifice by having to lay low until the heat's off. You just gotta feel bad for those poor poor folk that are forced to wait a 6 months before they spring for that 14th Lamborghini.
