Their political leaders might find it convenient to forget they once encouraged violence, but I think the grassroots still holds strong to their beliefs. I work with these people, live around them, read their angry comments on local blogs. While I don't think any of them will openly condone the shooting of Giffords, I'm willing to bet I'll hear some not-so-nice comments tomorrow at work.
