Behind A Deficit Facade Burns A Dream Of Secular Government Collapse
http://www.politicususa.com/en/secular-government-collapse

There is one thing all Americans hope their representatives in government aspire to besides drawing taxpayer-funded salaries, health insurance benefits, and lobbyists’ campaign contributions and that is to do their jobs administering the government. However, as of late, one party has accomplished absolutely nothing except to draw benefits. When every member of Congress takes the oath of office, they swear to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic…bear true faith and allegiance to the same; take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter.” There is no different oath for Republicans or Democrats, so people should expect all representatives to fulfill their oath and work diligently to administer their constitutional duties by working for the good of the country and by extension, the American people.

The current Congress is beset with members who apparently disregard the oath they swore to and are working to end the government as we know it. Whether it is out of fear of the religious fundamentalists or genuine contempt for the government and its people, Republicans have been incrementally dismantling the government at the behest of Libertarians, teabaggers, and corporatists since January 21, 2009 when Barack Obama was sworn in as president. Republicans are spurred on by ultra-conservatives to destroy the government and the Constitution so they can install a corporatist theocracy that will transform America’s representative democracy into a business run by religious fundamentalists. The current debt ceiling debate gives all Americans a glimpse into the future Republicans, evangelical fanatics, teabaggers, and corporatists are planning for this country and it should frighten the life out of every citizen in America. Unfortunately, there is a large segment of the population that welcomes the end of secular America Republicans are aiming for and are pushing to finish off the government once and for all.

The teabaggers are little more than rebranded evangelical fundamentalists whose goal is more than just lower taxes and smaller government. They have used their hatred of all things secular to push Republicans into using the debt ceiling crisis to destroy the credit and good faith of America so they can bring down the government and “reconstruct” it as a Christian nation. The drive to outlaw homosexuality, abortion, and secularism has as its basis the Christian bible and representatives like Michele Bachmann are at the forefront to remake America in the bible’s image. There is good reason people like Bachmann and her teabagger cohorts decry the government as intrusive, overreaching, and morally bankrupt. Bachmann has made no secret of her mistrust and hatred of America’s secular government even though she benefits from the largesse of the American taxpayer. In lieu of legislation to achieve teabaggers’ goal of outlawing abortion, homosexuality, and programs like Social Security and Medicare, teabaggers advocate withholding all funding for government operations that eventually will collapse the government.

Bachmann was educated at Oral Roberts University and her position on everything from gay rights to contraception reflects the Christian fundamentalist mindset that is driving her to destroy secularism in America. Bachmann’s characterization of gays is that they are “sexually dysfunctional” and “part of Satan” and she believes strongly that homosexuality “leads to the personal enslavement of individuals. Because if you’re involved in the gay and lesbian lifestyle, it’s bondage. Personal bondage, personal despair, and personal enslavement. And that’s why this is so dangerous.” Since there is little chance that the majority of Americans will ever support banning homosexuality regardless that Bachmann says it is so dangerous, she and her teabagger caucus are supporting a government default. Bachmann revealed her true intentions about reshaping America into a theocracy when she assailed secularism. She said that Washington elitists “have declared war on marriage, on families, on fertility, and on faith.” There is no war on faith, but her comment shows how she views secular government and why she wants to destroy it.
