New Republican Meme coming out
I just got off the phone with my republican Rep. Actually the person that answers the phone. They would not connect me with the person I have dealing with in the office nor connect me with the rep.

The phone answerer seemed to be someone higher up the food chain than normal. I told them that I thought the taxes on the more wealthy should be raised. He then asked me if he could ask a few questions. I said sure. Asked what rate I would like to see and I said I thought 70% when making $50 million might not be out of line. He then asked me if I was making $50 million and taxed at 70%

Would I consider leaving the country if I was taxed that much

Is this the type of bullshit they are telling the people that call??

I told him if the only reason a person stayed in this country was because of money would we want them anyway.

I also told him that raising taxes was not really raising them because the rates in the past have been 70% under raygun and even higher at other times. So in fact we were just letting them float up to a level they were at before.

I asked him a final question. I asked him if the congressman thought he was paying enough taxes and would he be pissed if his taxes went up?? I told him that the congressman had two days to reply otherwise I would assume that the congressman thought he was taxed enough and I would spread that out on the Internet. He was not pleased with that. I told him I did not care.

The Angry Dragon is pissed and angry.
I take no prisoners when I get this way..........

16. The "money?" It's already gone! To Switzerland, the Caymans, Lichtenstein...
That's the "legacy" of "Trickle Down:" the rich didn't invest in jobs here with their new-found swag...they took it off shore along with our jobs!

17. Sounds like that old bull shit line that the rich would go Galt on us if we
tax them too much.

Basically if the tax rates were raised they would find investments that would shelter the taxes.

Now a good idea would be to tax the rich and give them loopholes that would create jobs. Like you could get a tax credit for adding solar and hire unemployed people to build it.

18. Can any one seriously imagine the wealthy leaving the Hampton's??
How about L.A? Marin county? New York city?

Or any other wealthy enclave?

They didn't leave in the past when taxes were higher - they're suddenly gonna go now?

It's not like they still wouldn't be wealthy.

20. Tell him it's assholes like him that would make you leave,
not taxes.

Must be something in the water today. I just gave info@BarakObama hell. Told them I was one of those Independents who's vote he covets, but that, unfortunately for him, I was also a liberal, disabled vet and senior citizen, and that taking the public option off the table and putting ss and medicare on it was not my idea of a balanced diet.

24. "Would I consider leaving the country...?" correct answer: NOT IF I COULDN'T TAKE MY MONEY WITH ME
What's so difficult about that? If they MAKE the money here, they pay TAXES on it here, or they don't GET to make it here. If they won't pay taxes on it here, they don't get to use the United States' facilities, such as our military, to protect their property.

26. What, is the other 35 million going to make or break with he can buy with 15 million?
What the fuck is he shopping for if so?

Secondly, once you hit above 500,000, you should be having a lawyer. Not to skirt loopholes, but to put your money to the best possible use. If capital gains is lower, then invest the money instead of sitting on it, jackass. When BOTH are lower, there's no incentive to invest. Oh sure there's a what, 6% difference now? Who gives a shit about 6% when you're discussing millions of dollars at 'risk'? Make that % a fuck-all lot higher, and suddenly risk seems like a good possible return and voila...we gots some jobs.

29. UPDATE FROM TEXAS
Called the office of Rep. Black Farenthold (R-27) (the guy in pajamas with the strippers)
and was told that he felt he paid enough taxes and would not like it if he paid more.

I found that very interesting considering that we pay his salary

30. Where would the guy making $50 million+ move?
We have the lowest tax rate. Other civilized countries have those high rates or he/she could move to a country with low tax rates and have family members (or him/her-self) kidnapped (perhaps killed but most certainly maimed) for ran.some
