Study: Marijuana compound helps mitigate cocaine addiction in mice
Source: Raw Story

Researchers in Maryland and Beijing have learned that a component marijuana helps mitigate cocaine addiction in mice, leading some to hope that marijuana may one day become the next big anti-addiction therapy.

The discovery was announced in the July 2011 edition of Nature Neuroscience.

The study found that cannabidiol, an active component of marijuana that does not produce an inebriating effect, effectively turns down a receptor in the brain that is stimulated by cocaine.

Just more of that Research this Government says does not exist...
Even today.. The DEA just digs in against any regulation changes to Cannabis..
I hope some here saw that report last night on Frontline about California Cannabis and the Feds..
It was BIAS as hell... It appeared as if it was to get the Public on board with the Federal Governments stand that Cannabis should stay Illegal or at most be totally regulated by the Feds...
It at least covered the battle between Local, State and Federal officials.. The threats from the Administration to all....

5. Cannabis has been an "exit drug" from other addictions for centuries.
The Women's Christian Temperance Union recommended it to wives of alcoholics back in the late 19th century. Even the major federal studies of substance abuse treatment for opiate addiction conducted every decade since the 60s exempts cannabis from labeling patients as relapsers.

It was also recommended to me by a Navajo elder and healer when I was trying to quit drinking (and using cocaine). It's worked for 17 years, 5 months and 27 days so far (but who's counting.)
