Get out the popcorn. Remember clown preacher Bradlee Dean? He was selected by Minnesota Republicans to offer an opening prayer to a legislature session. Everything was fine until the yahoo uttered some silly political analysis (President Obama is not a Christian apparently).
Drummer Dean—he plays in a “rock band”—has decided to sue MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow for $50 million (thanks to Towleroad for the links). He’s in a rock star tizzy over a Maddow segment focused on donations his ministry, You Can Run But You Cannot Hide, received from Tom Emner, a far right candidate for Minnesota’s top job. She looked into Dean’s troglodyte views on gays and lesbians, especially when it comes to our deaths. The minister insists his words were twisted, and he’s never called for our executions. Evah!!!
In the press release announcing the upcoming suit, Dean’s lawyer whines Maddow never mentioned the disclaimer Dean penned saying how he really doesn’t want gays killed (she did). The hired gun adds Maddow’s words “harmed Dean and the ministry, who pride themselves on respect and love for all people.”
Hold on baby birds. It gets better. Dean’s not doing this for money. He wants to protect the honor of fellow Christian Rep. Michele Bachmann.
