Police arrest suspected LulzSec spokesman ‘Topiary’

By Agence France-Presse

Police said they had arrested a 19-year-old man in a remote Scottish archipelago on Wednesday on suspicion of being a spokesman for the Lulz Security and Anonymous computer hacking groups.

Officers from a London-based cybercrime unit detained the man in a "pre-planned intelligence-led operation" on the Shetland Islands, off the northeast coast of Scotland, London's Metropolitan Police said.

"The man arrested is believed to be linked to an ongoing international investigation into the criminal activity of the so-called 'hacktivist' groups Anonymous and LulzSec, and uses the online nickname 'Topiary' which is presented as the spokesperson for the groups," the statement said.

He was being transported to a London police station and a search was under way at his house, the statement said.

1. You gotta wonder
they're able to hack into all these places but can't cover their own tracks?

2. They're stupid. They think they're smart, and they know how to
use scripts, but when it comes to real world stuff, they're just stupid kids. They are never offline, and spend as much time playing WoW as they do hacking. They spend more time online bragging about their exploits than they do hacking. Most are young guys in late adolescence and are suckers for anyone who's of the opposite sex who shows any interest in them.

Stupid kids. I'm surprised it took this long to find them.

3. The real experts make lots of money and work for the powerful
and they aren't public about what hacking they do.
