Poll question: Snapshot Poll: 6 Days to go. Do we get the debt ceiling raised in time
to prevent further economic damage (before Aug 2)?

Based on today's developments and batshit craziness, I'm afraid I'm leaning towards the fear and loathing of default.

1. Interesting - three-way tie. And we still don't know the
outcome.

3. Wall Street will pressure the Repubs to make this work out somehow?? I see that
as being more likely as I think that in the end WS still has more power than the Tea Partiers.

5. The children are out of control
the GOP is having a come to Jayzus moment as to why the John Birch society were not allowed at the table... you can see the panic in the media. I will vote for chaos... and HOPE I am wrong.

9. And he was quoting the Wall Street Journal
a MURDOCH paper... and if there is something the Murdoch clan would love right about now is a little chaos.

10. Really?
Depends on what you mean by "chaos":

1. If you mean "strategic actions to fuck over Obama/everybody who supported his presidency" then yeah, definitely.

2. if you mean "let's give the worst, craziest elements of our 'base' free-reign to do stuff that will actually damage our investment portfolio", then no. So-called "Moderate Conservatives" (money-grubbing dickheads and their enablers/apologists) are perfectly willing to use the Snake-handler Fundies and closet-racists when needed (for instance, as a reliably-gullible pool of 'rubes' to get them back into play after Obama's landslide), but they are NOT stupid enough to actually allow them to run amok for long.
I wouldn't be surprised if -- after this "Debt-ceiling bullshit plays out however it's going to go -- they do the same thing they did to the "Militia Movement": scurry like mad to try and put as much ideological distance between themselves, and the "Far-Right loonies".
The Teabaggers themselves are also starting to implode under the sheer weight of their own stupidity (I mean really: can ANYBODY who isn't a complete psycho take Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, or Herman Cain seriously no matter how 'fiscally conservative'?)

Same goes for the Koch brothers. You need to remember that these guys -- just like Coors -- are corporate business guys first. Coors might have gotten in bed with Right-wing causes, but not to the extent that he'd actually permit them to go full-on theocratic and reinstate Prohibition.

The Koch Brothers' primary goal in being "Right-wingers" is to delay or otherwise hamstring any environmental regulation that might actually require them to change to "Green" technologies before they're ready to do so. (Right-wing business-folk are, after all, more than willing to do whatever gets them the most money). We've got to remember that, whatever our illustrious (p)Resident might mumble about "getting our fiscal house in order", there are a HELL of a lot of Right-wingers, corporate business-types, "defense" contractors etc. etc. making out like bandits off of various forms of "Government debt".
They don't want a "balanced" budget, because a system where they actually paid into the government OPENLY (via taxation) wouldn't "need" all the lobbyists and foundations and such (both nominally "Right-wing" and nominally "leftist") pulling strings behind the scenes.
(whoever gets to pull the strings, gets to be "Elite", if only to the extent that they can counter-act some other faction's string-pulling).

The "pro-business" Right-wingers have every bit as much to lose from an uncontrolled Teabagger movement as the rest of us do.

THEY are every bit as "socialist" (I.E. en-meshed in the so-called "Mixed Economy") as the rest of us.

Just sayin'.

7. Other: It's too late to avoid serious damage.
By now the world has seen we're more interested in the fantasies of an astroturf Dick Army than we are in backing our commitments.

8. First guess...
At 10pm on August 1st the house (moderate repubs and all dems) and then the senate pass a 1 page bill increasing the debt ceiling until 2013. If that doesn't happen, at 11:45pm Obama invokes the 14th amendment and saves the market and situation... Maybe a few law suits get filed, but all is still ok..
