My Debt Ceiling email to Senator Blunt (R-MO) |
|
Dear Senator Blunt: It is beyond time for your party to end this game of brinksmanship on this manufactured crisis of the debt ceiling/budget. The actions and statements of the GOP are simply put, reprehensible. We must increase revenues by ending the Bush Era tax cuts and the wars of choice in Iraq & Afghanistan. Social Security & Medicare must be protected for those who completed their part of the bargain by working each day, paying into a system that was to be there for them in the future all along playing by the rules to help build this country.
Most Sincerely,
Slightly modified versions sent to McCaskill (D-MO), Clay (D Mo 1st) and the White House.

The wars should definitely be defunded first to help balance the budget and troops brought home well before they even think about touching anything else.
Its all about priorities. We can balance the budget, but the Republicans aren't willing to pay the most obvious price -- the reasons why we got into this mess in the first place: tax cuts and bloated military spending.

You are correct, it is certainly all about priorities. As Nancy Pelosi said about shared sacrifice "we get the sacrifice, they get the share" (or something close to that.
