MSNBC and one of its primetime hosts, Rachel Maddow, are named as defendants in a $50 million lawsuit alleging that comments made by Maddow on her program were defamatory.
Rocker-turned minister Bradlee Dean and his ministry are the plaintiffs, essentially claiming that Maddow paraphrased Dean in such a way as to turn a benign statement he made into a defamatory one.

MSNBC responded with a strong statement, saying “This suit is baseless and we stand by our reporting.”
The suit is the second suit filed by a prominent conservative against a mainstream media outlet in the last few months. In June,
Where’s the Birth Certificate? author Jerome Corsi sued
Esquire magazine for $120 million for running a satirical item on his book.
