The republican candidate for Anthony Wiener's 9th District seat doesn't know the poverty rate in his
district!

Just heard it now when Brian Lehrer asked him on the air on WNYC.

Bob Turner obfusgated, saying that the number's always changing, saying it was reflective of the federal poverty rate (which he didn't give a number).

Unless it's an issue in that district.

I found the 2009 answer pretty easily.

New York 9

11.6% (80,167)

1.7%

11.6% (17,309)▼

•44,133 women (12.17 percent) in the district live in poverty
•17,186 Latinos (14.66 percent) in the district live in poverty
•15,393 Asian-Americans (12.68 percent) in the district live in poverty
