CNN (and Fox, PBS) all POINTEDLY OMIT Ayn Rand when reporting authors of Loughner's favorite books:
Edited on Mon Jan-10-11 02:50 AM by Faryn Balyncd

CNN's report on Jared Loughner's favorite books from his YouTube page pointedly OMITS right-wing libertarian author Ayn Rand, whose "We the Living" was listed by Loughner as a favorite.

Moreover, a Google Advanced Search of cnn.com, foxnews.com, and pbs.org reveals no articles at all in which both Ayn Rand and Jared Loughner are mentioned (Fox News has one hit for the combination, but that is a page in which a link to a video of John Stoessel discussing "Atlas Shrugged" appears on the same page as a link to Loughner - - - There is no article discussing Loughner's interest in one of his favorite authors, a right=wing libertarian).

All while the corporate media spreads innuendo of (gold standard obsessed, government hating, Ayn Rand faving) Loughner being "very liberal", according to a former classmate who apparently can't tell a right wing libertarian from a liberal.

CNN: Latest Developments in Arizona Shooting

"On his YouTube page, a list of his favorite books included both "Mein Kampf" and "The Communist Manifesto," along with works by George Orwell, Ray Bradbury, Ken Kesey, Herman Hesse, Ernest Hemingway, Plato and Aesop's fables."

The corporate media is a DISGRACE.

2. The indy media is struggling. They need our ten bucks.
Free Speech TV, Pacifica, Link, indy bloggers and journalists. They're our best bet against this toxicity, imo.

5. But of course you know the reason? They didn't know.
All they know is she authored Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead.

They're fucking ignorant idiots, that's why.

6. I noticed that too
I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt because I only heard the list a few times and I figured they couldn't read the entire list... but you've done the research and this is a methodical thing. Which is really alarming.

9. I also noticed that CNN
keeps showing the photo of him with long hair while other stations are showing him with short buzz cut. Go figure.

10. The girl claiming that Jared was a liberal probably knew he was in favor of drug legalization and
extrapolated that he was some liberal from that.

She clearly did NOT know him well if she had to look up his picture in the yearbook to see if she remembered him correctly.

Of course, the media will treat her account as a proper and legitimate "side" to the story.

But Jared Loughner might.

ETA: Of course, I meant to say AYN Rand. I wouldn't want anyone to think there was any connection between that right-wing extremist and Rand PAUL! Goddness gracious, no!
