Okay, a lot of people have been accusing the repugs of treason. I have looked at the US Code and I don’t think they are guilty of treason, but are guilty of /Seditious Conspiracy:

18 USC Sec. 2384 02/01/2010
-EXPCITE-
TITLE 18 - CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
PART I - CRIMES
CHAPTER 115 - TREASON, SEDITION, AND SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES
-HEAD-
Sec. 2384. Seditious conspiracy
-STATUTE-
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place
subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to
overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the
United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force
the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the
execution of any law of the United States
, or by force to seize,
take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the
authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or
imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

Now we know that they are hindering and delaying a law of the United States, specifically The XIIIIth amendment of the Constitution.

Now the law says “or by force”-then we need to look at the definition of “force”- if force is used in this traditional definition of being physical, then they are not guilty of Seditious Conspiracy, however if “force” is seen as . Capacity of exercising an influence or producing an effect; strength or energy of body or mind; active power; vigor; might; often, an unusual degree of strength or energy; especially, power to persuade, or convince, or impose obligation; pertinency; validity; special signification; as, the force of an appeal, an argument, a contract, or a term. (define.com). Basically coercion and threats, then they are indeed guilty of Seditious Conspiracy.

The tea baggers, have threatened not to allow the bill to be passed unless there is a balanced budget amendment be passed (hindrance), etc. you can find other statements by these men and women.

I am not a lawyer, however, I do think that the Statute clearly defines what is occurring to be sedition, as defined under the US Code.
