Senate to Vote on the Boehner Bill Tonight, If it Passes in the House
http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2011/07/senate-to-vote-on-the-boehner-bill-tonight-if-it-passes-in-the-house.html

The Senate will vote tonight on the Boehner debt bill, if it passes in the House of Representatives.

“As soon as the House completes its vote tonight, the Senate will move to take up that bill,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., just announced on the Senate floor. “It will be defeated. No Democrat will vote for a short-term Band-Aid that would put our economy at risk and put the nation back in this untenable situation a few short months from now. “

Reid said it is “time for Tea Party Republicans to stop resisting compromise.”

Senator Chuck Schumer noted that even though Speaker of the House John Boehner is “busy twisting arms right now” to get votes. He predicted that Boehner “will” have the votes tonight in the House on his bill. But he, like Reid, promised that the bill is going nowhere in the Senate. Schumer also ruled out even compromising around the Boehner bill as has been suggested earlier this week. “It won't make a darn bit of difference because it's not going to pass this house, the Senate.,” Schumer said, “We have made that clear in the letter that 53 of us signed yesterday and nothing has changed. The idea that we will take Boehner’s bill and pass it or take Boehner’s bill and tweak it and pass it is not what is going to happen.”
