18 Countries Where Women Have It Way Better Than In America
(A 2010 article but still applicable IMO.)

"Ninety years since the nineteenth amendment and 50 years since the civil rights era, American women still lag behind men in several key metrics.

What's worse, America's gender gap is among the largest in the developed world, according to a report from the World Economic Forum.

The report compares female-to-male professional achievements, educational attainment, health and political empowerment. America scores lowest on politics, namely the number of women in office."

1. The report is obviously biased
Not one Muslim country made it higher on the list than the USA.

2. I was talking with a dear friend from Russia once about giving birth and how my insurance would pay
for 48 hours post-partum for a hospital stay. We were speaking Russian and she thought I had the word wrong so she said, "You mean, 48 days." I said, "No, hours." She was speechless.

Russia!

4. Why would anyone need to stay in the hospital for 48 days, post partum?

6. The point is, she thought insurance was so generous that something that huge was available to me.
And to her, it made more sense than 48 hours.

3. Hmmmm... I think they're lying. The health and life expectancy is higher in many other countries
And in this suddenly it's tied or the U.S. is higher? Or do they mean Central and South America are included in 'America?'

7. This study is about gender gaps
So the 'health and survival' is about the gap in care between genders in each nation. It follows that in most of these there is not a large difference between the health and survival of males and females. It is really not addressing the quality of care one nation to the other, but care in nation on gender relative to the other.http://www.weforum.org/women-leaders-and-gender-parity

5. Women can be better leaders
BUT damn, I worked in an office of 30 people once. 25 were women. They can sure hate each other over nothing, and then next week be best friends. I always scratched my head. Nevertheless, women can multitask much better than men, and pay attention to detail much better. I truly think the sexes are different. I believe men hold women down by way of family, religion, sex, children and instinct to keep in control.

Just my two cents.

Not popular I spose at all.

8. How are they determining these rankings?
Are they using the country's currency and earnings in the currency as the measure for economic well-being? That is not accurate since the economic organizations of the countries are very different.

Also, health and survival?
Some of the countries that are rated below us on this measure have higher life expectancies than we do. This makes no sense.
