Edited on Thu Jul-28-11 05:35 PM by cal04
http://thinkprogress.org/special/2011/07/28/282453/clergey-members-arrested-debt-ceiling/About a dozen religious leaders were arrested in the Capitol rotunda today after they refused to end their public prayers calling for “an equitable resolution to the debt ceiling debate,” according to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), which organized the protest. The leaders noted that default would be catastrophic, but current plans to raise the debt limit would still include “severe spending cuts to the programs and services that support the poorest and most vulnerable people living in the U.S. and around the world.” A photo of the leaders captured by the New York Times: http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/07/28/the-caucus-click-conscientious-objection/video at Huffington http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/28/religious-leaders-arreste_n_912337.html?ir=Politics&ncid=edlinkusaolp00000008

4. I disagree. This is power to the dimwits that are holding us hostage. |
|
this is a powerful image of goodness. I believe in separation of church and state but if you want to see powerful images go check out civil rights marchs where rabbis, priests and nuns took the water cannons too.

3. While I may want a separation of church and state, I say FINALLY |
|
some Christians standing (or here, kneeling and praying) for Christian values~ love thy neighbor, whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, etc.
I am sick of the right taking over Christianity like it's a right wing ideology exclusively, and the rest of us poor suckers must have been sleeping in catechism class.
