Former Reagan Advisor Bruce Bartlett: Chunk Of GOP Either STUPID, CRAZY, IGNORANT or CRAVEN COWARDS

Historian Bruce Bartlett, a former domestic policy adviser to President Ronald Reagan, sat down with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews on Wednesday to discuss the national debt.

Bartlett said it was a myth that tax cuts are the key to prosperity, noting that Reagan raised the capital gains rate. He was also skeptical that Congress would be able to solve the current budget

crisis.

“I think at this point, there’s nothing that can pass the House of Representatives,” he said.

“I think a good chunk of the Republican caucus is either stupid, crazy, ignorant or craven cowards, who are desperately afraid of the tea party people, and rightly so.”

9. I'm leaning towards the "blackmailed by Sarah Palin" theory
http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics/palin-warns-gop-freshmen-about-debt-vote-20110728

A message from Sarah Palin to GOP freshmen in Congress: Vote against raising the debt ceiling, or I’ll cut off your cash and make sure someone runs against you next cycle.

Wading into the ongoing debt-ceiling debate, the 2008 vice presidential nominee took to Facebook to threaten – er, request – that as Congress members go to vote on increasing the debt ceiling on Thursday they “remember us ‘little people’ who believed in them, donated to their campaigns, spent hours tirelessly volunteering for them, and trusted them with our votes. This new wave of public servants may recall that they were sent to D.C. for such a time as this.”

Palin included a copy of the open letter she sent freshmen GOP following their victories last November, with what she termed “added emphasis to certain passages that I feel are especially relevant to the current discussion.” That included boldface sentences about cutting the deficit, tackling spending, and entitlement reform.

In case the lawmakers didn't get Palin's drift, she included this postscript: “P.S. Everyone I talk to still believes in contested primaries,” she wrote.

10. Here's the rest of the video. Everything he says is spot on (which is kind of mind
blowing for those of us who lived through the Reagan years): http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x604343
