Typical Tweety delivery.

Paraphrasing, talking about Obama, "Here's a guy, mixed background, and he says only in this country, my country. You can't go to China and become Chinese! American exceptionalism."

~*~MSNBC - Lean Forward~*~

:wtf:

3. Bingo!
That ad has driven me crazy ever since the first time I stopped long enough to really listen to what he was saying. I truly think Matthews is trying to make a positive, supportive statement, but someone dropped the ball on this. That "go to China and become Chinese" bit is just awful and is fodder for the Tea Party. Pres. Obama didn't come here and become American--he's American by birth, and that ad needs changing! Thanks so much for posting, as I thought I was the only one hearing it that way. I just can't believe that it continues to be aired.

6. you know about the chinese men marrying black women in africa ?
now what are the chances of one of those couples baby's being born in china and therefore chinese by birth getting to the top in china ?

of course china is not a democracy in the first place.

but yeah, tweety could have made the point without mentioning china or anyone else.

8. Typical Tweety, I guess
Tweety's the one who gushed about bu$h looking "manly" in his codpiece-enhanced flight suit during "Mission Accomplished". I don't know why anyone takes that guy seriously.

7. the ad was developed while all the birthers were frothing at the mouth
but by the time the ad aired, the "long form" had been revealed and bin Laden killed, so the ads were a bit unnecessary...but if course someone paid to have them made and so they run..

The thing that irks me is that surely that form could have been produced during the "08 election preemptively, and would have spared us all the nonsense that prevailed for months & months..

12. In the USA, you can become a citizen of this country. In many
other countries, you can live there but not have
citizenship. In Germany, you have to prove you
are of German Descent if you wish to become a citizen.

13. He's trying to re-frame tand take ownership of he phrase "American Exceptionalism"
He's trying to take it back from the Right and give it a meaning that Lefties can be comfortable with
