Anyone know what will happen to airports of the government shuts down? |
|
We are flying into the US on Aug 6th. I'm worried maybe we won't make it.

1. That would likely fall under the heading |
|
of essential services, and shouldn't be affected. Have a safe and enjoyable visit.

2. The debt limit deadline is on the 2nd... |

If we're still trying to repair things 4 days later, the least of your problems will be getting a landing slot.

7. Regardless of a government 'shutdown', isn't the FAA already |
|
languishing in 'not funded' land while this other drama plays out? I think air traffic controllers will be working, but I think (don't know, just an opinion) it could be 'skeleton crews' which could delay flight landings and takeoffs. So I'm sure you will get back, but it might be under 'stack ups' and other delays.

8. Public safety related employess will continue to be on duty |
|
that includes Air Traffic Control.
The vast majority of airports in the US do not have manned control towers, including some with commercial service.

9. It depends on what bills get paid |

I would imagine they could be forced to work without pay as essential employees.
