5. oh yeah . . . Scarborough is doing it right this minute
just claimed that Democrats "targeted" Giffords because of some of her votes. Earlier, Pat "lock and load" Buchanan, a pioneer of hate-talking politics, tried (pathetically) to argue about how no one is responsible for these extremists. The names Limbaugh, Palin and Beck have not come up.

8. Amazing, simply amazing how it keep working down through the centuries.
Mind you, our current version of RW Propaganda Machine is the most sophisticated and subtle ever designed, also existing in an age of unprecendented levels of technology, but don't kid yourself that the RW Lie Machine is anything new.

An very old example of on of the earliest "Fox Newses of History" (which includes Der Sturmer, Pravda, etc.) occured in the runup to the battle of Grunwald, which pitted the Teutonic Knights (our Fox Newsers, surprise, suprise) vs. the Poles and Lithuanians.

How did the Teutons do the Fox News in 1409? The Poles had converted to Christianity sometime in the 800s and thus had been Christians for more than five centuries. But the Teutons, employing legions of "Fox News" scribes wrote piles of letters saturating Europe with the lie that Poland was not yet Christian, and therefore the Teutonic invasion and conquest of Poland and Lithania was justified in the name of Conversion to Christ.

Did it work? You betcha! The Poles and Lithanians, even if they knew what was going on and tried to counter it, could never have done so, as they lacked the gold and legions of literate scribes to carry out such a counter-agenda (is this example starting to seem familiar?).

In the end, the legions of the Teutonic Knights were swolled with European Knights from other nations who died thinking they were fighting to convert a non-Chrstian enemy...

...who had actually been Christian for 500 years and more.

Just like today, there were a very few who saw through the lies, and of the many European Knights from other nations, a handful stood with the Poles.

That was 600 years ago. In the big picture, there's a straight line from the Teutonic Knights through the Nazis and now to our own RW Lie Machine that has now pretty much fused with Corporate Media. The methodology is infinitely more sophisticated and sits on a technology platform billions of times more powerful than the Teutons swollen bulpen of willing scribes.

But at bottom, the upside-downism and tactics are the same for the Teutons, the Nazis and our own RW Authoritarians.

7. I'm seeing old Randi Rhodes quotes being used this way
Of course, no one notes that Randi isn't broadcast in every part of the country, 24/7, like RW hate radio is. Nor is she on every TV station spewing hate. Nor is she running for office.

They also are trying to say that the Ford and Reagan Assassination attempts were the same thing, so why complain?
