Just pass clean bill raising the debt limit |
|
Please?!
The fourteenth amendment will be used by the freaks on the right as a means to attempt to impeach the pres. Trying to rush through cuts to spending and entitlements will enrage voters. Changes of that magnitude need to be openly discussed and contemplated not rushed.
Anyway, here's hoping they just raise the ceiling with a clean bill and save the drama for later.

2. Have you asked yourself why such a bill isn't already |
|
in the process and coming up for a vote? When you can answer that question, you'll know why that's unlikely.
Right now, the House Republicans will not pass a clean debt ceiling bill. They're insisting on tying it to spending cuts, and will not allow such a bill to proceed, not even now. That's very clear. A Democrat could introduce such a bill, and that has happened, but such a bill will never come up for a vote.
When the Republicans have a majority in the House, they decide which bills move and which do not. That's how it works.
And President Obama is more than aware of that. That is why he is not calling for such a bill at this time. There is no chance of that happening. Perhaps on Monday, but not right now. It's a non-starter.

But I'm still calling and writing reps requesting that. It might help if others do as well but understand they'll only consider it at the very last second.
Took the family out to eat last nite and the restaurant was packed. Wonder how it will look if congress actually let's the country default?

The teabaggers will refuse to pass anything that sane people could support. It is their desire to cause default, and they accomplish this by passing only batshit insane bills. They WANT a default.
Obama needs to invoke the 14th. Let the insane wing try to impeach him, they would be handing a huge political victory to Obama. One would think this would be blatently obvious to the baggers, but they are too stupid to stop drooling.
