Our Broken Government
It is obvious to most of us now that the government has been taken over by corporations, banks and right wing extremists.

Our system is broken and the democrats seem unwilling or incapable of standing up against the fascists.

Petitions and trying to change things through the political process are utterly useless against this corrupt bought by the rich, government. Not only has the federal system

been taken over, now they are systematically taking over our state governments.

Your thoughts please? My feeling is that the people need to rise up fill the streets and shut the whole thing down as was done in Egypt and other places.

Am I talking about a populist movement to overthrow the government? Well, that might be against DU rules.

Just wondering what ideas you all have.

1. My three ideas...
1) End the lobby industry. No ifs, ands or buts, just kill it outright like a rabid animal.

2) Term limits for any and all elected officials. This includes the SCOTUS.

3) Only living human beings who are US citizens can donate to politicians at a set amount, directly. No PACs or any other group.

I believe these three things will put control of our government back into the hands of actual people, while forcing more citizens to get involved to fill vacancies made in #2.

2. We have the means to change the government, if we have the
will to do so. Every two years, we get another opportunity. In that sense, there is a constant revolution in this country. Any other type of revolution would be roundly opposed by a vast majority of US citizens, and so would be doomed to failure.

2012 is only a short time away. You want to overthrow the existing government? Convince people to vote it out of office. Sorry, but that's the only viable option.

If you think an "uprising" is going to do it, you're seriously wrong.
