Proof That The Tea Party Caucus Is Too Stupid To Do Their Job
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2011/07/28/proof-that-the-tea-party-caucus-is-too-stupid-to-do-their-job/

Oh. My. God.

This from Representative Paul Broun:

Broun: I introduced a bill to lower the debt ceiling, not raise it. And i just think raising the debt ceiling is not the way to go. We need to lower it. We need to pay off the debt.

Let’s pretend, for a moment, that the debt ceiling is just like your credit card (it’s not, but pretending is fun. The GOP does it for a living!). Now, let’s say you have a maximum credit limit of $1000 and you’re maxed out. Now, let’s pretend that you call up the credit card company and tell them you want to cut your credit limit in half so you can pay off your debt. Even if they oblige the crazy person on the phone, THAT STILL DOESN’T MAKE THE MONEY YOU OWE GO AWAY. You still owe it. You spent that money. It’s gone. Done. Used.

1. How do these people get elected?
Have any of them held public office before in their life?

5. It is unfortunate.
We could've done more with another Democratic congress.

Though I knew what was at stake and voted for a straight Democratic ticket in 2010. Hopefully everyone will do the same in 2012.

4. Also in your scenario

if they lowered the limit and you were already up to the old higher limit, you'd owe an over the limit penalty for every month you carried a balance over the new lower limit.

I think many of the tps are confusing the budget, with the debt ceiling.

On edit: Many of these tps have already been sued or charged with not paying their bills or taxes. They're not too different than that guy last year that plowed his plane into the IRS building...a deadbeat, mad at the IRS because he was CAUGHT not paying his taxes like everybody else.

6. Elections have consequences.
This is the proof of that.
