Last night the GOP proved how good a House Speaker Nancy Pelosi really was.
Edited on Fri Jul-29-11 02:15 PM by aaaaaa5a

Last night the GOP House Speaker was embarrassed. He had no leadership. He had no plan. He looked like a liar. This was the biggest vote of his political career, and his own crew deserted him. He could not "whip" up the votes. He could not twist arms. His own people would not follow. He was a failure.

Its tough being a leader.

I compare House speaker Boehner's performance with his caucus to Nancy Pelosi and her caucus during the Health Care debate.

Similarly to the current debt ceiling debate, the political atmosphere was charged. There were many representatives who did not want to follow. Many didn't like the bill. Some feared for their jobs and the upholding of their principles. But my favorite politician, Nancy Pelosi held her caucus together. She got the votes. She got the job done! Without ONE REPUBLICAN VOTE she passed a Health Care bill (minus a public option) through the house and it became law. Her work was historic. It was outstanding. In many ways she became a symbolic mortar of a greater good.

Meanwhile today, Boehner can't even get something as generic as a simply debt ceiling though his caucus. Even a stunningly conservative budget cutting bill tied to saving the country's economy can't pass.

When the true test of political leadership is on the line.... What an unbelievable difference between the two?

Of course I have not seen this comparison made anywhere. It is not on TV, not in the newspapers. Not on any internet websites. But it needs to be said.

Last night the entire world saw... what a tremendous leader and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi really was.

5. Beautifully stated and every word true. The thing is...Nancy Pelosi
is a sober person, clear thinking and able to process whatever comes her way. There is a part of me, small as it is, as a recovering alcoholic that feels a wee bit of compassion for Boehner. No way am I attempting to take his inventory but if the stories about his drinking is true, no wonder he isn't getting the backing. He doesn't have the respect of his caucus. He can't seem to gather them together and take a cohesive position they will have faith in. They know him, and perhaps they don't trust him. I don't know, absolutely speculation on my part but I would bet it has a large part to do with his ineffectiveness.

7. It pisses me off ...
To no end how the Rs denegraded her from moment one, and the "liberal media" let it filter through ...

Every right winger who got a mic in their face would scream that she was the worst speaker ever, just their usual BS, and the media let it go.

She led some of the most productive legislative sessions in our history, and she was a sure hand in vote counting. Cleaned up the process and cease pool Denny Hastert left, and just did a darn good job.

Boehner has done jack snot, literally had next to no legislation - of course it is an opposite party president. But, obviously BO is a guy who is not afraid to try to work with the other team. Now, Boehner has a full out insurrection in his caucus, and you won't hear a peep about him being the trainwreck he has been for a Speaker.

And, had Nancy Pelosi EVERY cried, much less as much as the Orange Man ...

11. I posted this on my Facebook status last night ...
"Hey, Speaker Boehner -- why don't you give Nancy a call? I'm sure she'd be glad to give you a few pointers about how to manage your caucus!"
