A tiny--okay, maybe not so tiny--part of me thinks it'd be good time to force McConnell to filibuster. Instant education for country.

4. Reid denounced McConnell in his presser for the filibuster
My understanding is that the whole reason they ended the session and called the presser is because of the filibuster being invoked.

5. Yes, that was announced on Lawrence O'Donnell's show tonight.
What an asshat! Can't give up his power for anything! Reid is trying to get a few more Pubs to vote with him to get the 60 votes. I heard they expect a vote Sunday. Lue Russert said Sunday night, but then he said around 1:00 AM. I wonder if he really meant Sat. night, or very early Sunday morning?

6. they just slit their own throats
Teasters are urging them to default so Obama gets the blame. Last time they shut the government down it backfired.

7. Is he actually filibustering or is this just a "gentleman's" filibuster?
They should make his stand there and talk.

8. Well, McConnell told us that his #1 priority is making Obama a one-term president.
July 10, 2011, on Fox News Sunday:

“Well that is true, my single most important political goal along with every active Republican in the country. But that’s in 2012. Our biggest goal for this year is to get this country straightened out, and you can’t get this country straightened out if we don’t do something about spending, about deficit, about debt and get this economy moving again. So, our goal is to have a robust vibrant economy that will benefit all Americans, and that’s why I think this debate that we’re having right now is so important to our country’s future.” ---Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell (R)

And now, he is filibustering Reid's bill in the Senate.

I hope everyone is buckled up, for we are about to hit the rapids.

9. Its budget related. Can they not pass it under reconciliation with a simple majority.
Its a stretch but not a total stretch-armstrong.

10. *Everything* in the Senate now needs 60 votes to break cloture. It's the Republican way.
It *used to be* that only a simple majority was needed to pass legislation. The Republicans have so damaged our political process, that it is unrecognizable.

I don't think anything acceptable is going to come out of the Senate. And Obama is avoiding the 14th Amendment like the plague, but that is going to be the only way left to avoid default.

And if and when he does invoke the 14th, the very first thing the House is going to do, in my opinion, is try to impeach him. Clinton redux.

This is the inevitable result of not rooting these criminals and traitors out when Democrats had the power to do it.

Bill Clinton. Nancy Pelosi. Barack Obama.

And here we are.
