11. Sorry, can't do that. I'm free to respond to whatever post I like.
It's nice that people it so amusing when someone has a drinking problem. I bet more than a few DUers have one and don't think it so funny.

12. It isn't about amusing,
with 10% unemployment, this guy is paid $224k/year of tax payer money to show up whenever the hell he wants and drink on the job.

He needs an intervention.

15. His policies are a joke. Alcoholism, not so much.
Edited on Fri Jul-29-11 10:01 PM by blue neen
All alcoholics need enablers to continue their disease. John Boehner has an entire American political party full of them.

Also, as a typical alcoholic he is using and hurting people and is quite capable of making everyone believe his constant lies.

The American people are the victims here. If John Boehner continues to deny he has a problem, then people WILL make smart remarks...something has got to make him look in the mirror, and if that's what it takes, so be it.

That being said, I don't see how the OP is making fun of Boehner. IMHO, it was a very plain statement.

27. I have had two bosses who were alcoholics.
They were both quite irresponsible. I think the pickling of their brains had reduced their cognitive ability. Neither of them could handle financial matters.

And neither of them could be relied on for anything. Don't accept a job working for a person with an alcohol problem. You will rue the day.

33. You have all my sympathy.
Somehow the alcohol just numbs the feelings of responsibility in such people.

So, lower level employees find themselves assuming far more responsibility than they have the authority to carry out. It's a recipe for failure. And usually, the alcoholic just blames someone else while the sober enabler feels awful about it.

20. It is a disease.
We (collectively) need to stop enabling people no matter how famous/funny/popular (or in Boehner's case) powerful they are.

17. Interesting observation .... any chance he has a conscience nagging at him ... ?
Or is it simply that he hasn't yet reduced all of America to poverty yet

that causes the boozing?

that Boner is just having a really bad day and decided he could drink and drive in the house.

bullying -- but I've never seen any group so addicted to morose sorrow at their

own life's problems while ignoring the pain of others. Nixon being an example of that.

22. Basically, we're the ones who are really dealing with the losers.
The American people who are suffering without jobs, health insurance, education...all of us are the ones who have to look at this with clear eyes and clear heads.

Nor do most Americans have the money to get spray painted orange in futile attempts to cover up an alcoholic's typical facial flush.

30. One can say that another gave the 'appearance' of being drunk, that is, slurred
speech, staggering gait, etc., but absent a factual diagnosis one cannot say with accuracy "...there is no question Beohner (sic) was drunk..."
