Sick of hearing this from the right wingers as the reason she was shot.

Some wingnut just said this on CSPAN.

but I was hoping it wasn't true so we could shut that meme down.

Thanks.

2. Yeah, she cast her vote for John Lewis
A humble, decent man who is an icon of the civil rights movement.

5. Yes, they are clinging to some obscure dailyKOS post as being the reason for the shooting
a user named blueboy posted that Giffords was "dead to him" because of the minority leader vote. At first they tried to claim it was the shooter, then (after it became obvious it wasn't) they claimed that this is somehow equal to their political leader's rhetoric.

8. My thought exactly. Who cares? Talk about politicizing. What hypocrites.

9. Yes, here's more background...
Article discussing the issue including Giffords' spokesperson explaining it:

Article mentioning Lewis' reaction:

“I was really embarrassed, really, that someone would vote for me,” Lewis said. “I don’t have any desire to be speaker. I didn’t campaign for the job.”

10. The RW will seize on anything to deflect responsibility and
accountability from themselves. It's always someone else's fault.

I read Giffords' vote in this instance as signifying a message of centrism. Pelosi's being elected as minority leader was not in doubt. Giffords won re-election in a swing district by a very narrow margin and was likely reaching out symbolically to those who had not voted for her.

The symbolic message of centrism apparently didn't do her much good.

I wish all Dems would realize that and start reaching out to those who have always supported them - and to those who might if traditionally Dem policies actually succeed - rather than to the brain-dead on the other side.

15. Can you please cite examples of those on the left who have called for
their political adversaries to be murdered or assassinated ... who have posted their names on a map with crosshairs ... who have brought their guns to political rallies ... or who have threatened to bring them "next time?" Or anything else that even faintly resembles the promotion of violent action against individuals other than expressing their own personal dissatisfaction or disappointment with their actions?
Enough with the false equivalencies. Please.
