2. Well, duh
Everybody pays taxes.

Sales tax. Gas tax. Property tax. All those taxes on phone and communicaiton services. Tax to tag a car or boat or motorcycle or trailer.

You get the idea.

3. O.K. I'll help. This is almost the same crap John Kyle tried to feed me when I contacted him.
First, it's true! The top 20% pay more taxes than the rest of us. What they don't tell you is that this is because they have ALL of the money.

As a percentage of their income, however, they pay FAR less than the bottom 80%. Just ask Warren Buffett who will tell you that his secretary pays a far higher tax "RATE" than he does.

That help?

4. Yet, those 5% have a huge portion of the nation's total wealth AND their share grows rapidly.
You want to tax the middle class more and take away the few programs and jobs that support them? Well, honey, don't look down or worry your pretty little head any but you will destroy them. That's where we're at. It's now that bad. Those precious 5% have fed like midwestern hogs at the trough of tax policy for 30 years and now you want MORE? Don't call yourself a patriot. Please. Inform yourself.

5. Let it go, laydeebug.
The people who spell like that and sprinkle it with 'stupid libs' all seem to come from the same place, and that place is UNreachable. Seriously. The ONLY way they'll ever be reached is to come asking questions with an open mind. Trust me...as someone who was once one of the types of people you're asking about (although with superior spelling :P ).

7. This has been the conumdrum. When we were in times of
prosperity, even then Companies prospered by paying as
low wage as possible. To be fair, Labor Costs are a companie's
biggest expenditure.

Our country does not require a living wage.(Enough income for
the family to have the basics). I think we all know that
Minimum Wage Jobs do not provide the basics for a family.

When we were in times of Prosperity, rather than require
Companies to pay a living wage, the tax code was changed
to exempt low wage workers from paying taxes.

This post sounds like the new Mantra at Fox. EVEN IN CONGRESS
the Republicans are saying we must BROADEN THE TAX BASE
and lower Corporate Taxes. Our Democratic Pres and some
Democrats agree. Broaden the tax base. Go down the socieconomic
ladder and have people who have been exempted heretofore
now start paying taxes.

One day we will all realize as a result of MISMANAGED GLOBALIZATION
the Developed Countries are having to lower their living standards
to compete with the 3rd World or Developing Countries.
The Simple Math tells you that. People in low wage countries
cannot afford to buy the expensive goods of High Wage Countries.
This is why you see States trying to get rid of Unions. When
they say we must be competitive, they are talking out of all
sides of their mouth at once. The Middle class has been losing
wages almost annually. This is part of the downward harmonization
of living standards.

If larger numbers are earning less, the tax base will be broadened
as the Republicans are recommending. Lower Corporate Rates.
Cheap Labor and Low to No Taxes on Corporations may entice
a few to keep their jobs in the USA.

5% of the money paid.

The top 5% earn 22.4% of income yet pay 5% of the taxes

Get some sleep and come back to this later. It is a very simple false equivalency trick (as most of their arguments are).

The top 20% of households got over 50% of the total income. The top 5% of households got 22.4% of the total income. The top 1%, representing 2.8 million people, …
